Fall  2009 in Canada and Costa Rica
Debbie and I feel very
blessed to be connected
to a missions taskforce
that oversees
Foursquare missions
Canada. This is a solid
leadership team who
truly have a heart for
missions and are
dedicated to help us
One of our
assistant pastors,
Juan Carlos, in
his new Canada
T-shirt, preached
Many were
touched by the
sense of family
and the love of
God in the
service.
After two wonderful months of visiting family and friends in
Canada, Debbie and I were welcomed back to Costa Rica with a
red carpet treatment: balloons, banners, luncheon and lots of
love.  What a joy it was to see our neighborhood kids come
running to greet us and church members from our other church
plants travel to join the welcome party.
convention this year being in
Quebec City we were able to fly
there and connect with other
pastors and missionaries from
across the country.
 Quebec City is absolutely
beautiful and rich in Canadian
history. We were blessed to see
how God is beginning to open
It was also very encouraging to see that our leadership team
did an excellent job in caring for the churches while we were
away.

During our time in
Canada it was great
to be able to do
grandma and
grandpa things like
watching our
granddaughters,
Tianna and Shayna,
in their skating
competitions or
going for walks
along the shores of
Cape Breton with
Zoe and Mackenzie.
One of my
memorable grandpa
times was going for
bike rides with our
grandson, Evan and
getting lost in the
woods. I tried not to
let on that we were
lost but I'm sure he
could sense that
grandpa wasn't all
that sure which way
was out. I was glad
to hear, "Hey
grandpa! Follow me,
I know the way.)
In Costa Rica you can wake up in the morning to see the sunrise
over the Carribean and, in the same day, drive across the
country to see the sun set over the Pacific. You can't do that in
Canada being that it is so large.  Thanks to the Church in
Canada we were able to see both our daughter Karin and
son-in-law Dion, and other family members on the Pacific side
and then visit our son Karl,daughter-in-law Stacie and
grandkids, and Debbbie's brother on the Atlantic side.

were able to attend 7
churches between the

the 9 weeks we were in

great folks and heard many stories about mission experiences.
It was very exciting to talk to people who  were interested in
coming to serve and love on the people here.

While in Canada we also attented a Christian gathering in
Stanley Park entitled "The Cry" where believers gathered for a
day of interceding for the city, the Olympics and the needs in
Canada.  What a priviledge it was to be able to be with so many
like minded who are contending for revival in our nation.

As well we were able to find  time for refreshing at a great
retreat center in Northern California.  We spent 5 nights at
Genesee House and had a true sabbatical from all the busyness
of life and the pressures of the ministry.  Again thank you to our
National Foursquare Church of Canada for caring for your
leaders and making this possible.  Absolutely beautiful home in
the middle of trees, mountains and lakes - far from the crowds,
with a great host couple - Charley and Bev.

Since returning to Costa Rica it has been busy, busy, busy.
Meetings and more meetings, planning for Christmas events
and outreaches, back to teaching English to my great group of
ladies,  and a mini missions trip for the local 4 square pastors in
our zone.  John planned a 2 day - l night adventure to get the
pastors out beyond the four walls.  What a lot of work it was but
we think it was successful. We had about 14 leaders who were
part of the two day experience  They visited 5 areas and were
able to also do some visitation in one area and praying for
people, as well as seeing the needs and seeing the openness
for sharing the gospel with people in their own land.  And now
in about 2 weeks the President of Foursquare Costa Rica,
Pastor Raphael is coming to visit the zone  and see the new
churches that have begun in the last year.  So as you can
imagine this month is flying by.

We have been getting a number of emails since arriving home
3 weeks ago on churches looking to visit in the coming year so
we have been working with pastors and leaders in that area as
well - helping to see what kind of work they want to do.
We are happy to be back where its warm and humid - so much
easier to walk in the morning when its not soooooo cold.

So much more to share but we'll save some for next time.  Look
forward to seeing many of you here in the new year.  Thank you
for your emails and letters - keep them coming - they mean so
much.

Prayer requests:- For lots of wisdom and direction - there are
so many needs and so many open doors. Pray also that we can
continue to train up leaders and disciple many.
